HERMETO PASCOAL (1936–2025) was a legendary Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, composer, and avant-garde jazz innovator. Nicknamed "O Bruxo" (The Sorcerer), he was famous for mixing traditional Brazilian folk styles with complex harmonies and creating music out of everyday objects, nature, and even his own beard.
