A trio of acclaimed musicians meet somewhere near the intersection of folk and free jazz. A night that is sure to open your ears to new musical vistas.

The trio music of Justin Purtill could certainly be called global jazz, in that it’s respective members have toured and performed with the likes of Ray Barretto, Hassan Hakmoun, Residente, Melvin Seals and the JGB, and Wayne Shorter. In fact, Justin and Leo are both current members of Residente. And certainly there are elements of the avant-garde mixed with folkloric forms from around the world — equal parts Americana and Free Jazz. Justin’s music has a quality of nostalgia combined with the most modern improvisational aesthetics. The trio has two records out on the Brooklyn-based 577 Records label: Simple Twist and Jack-a-Roe.
