THE WOLLESONICS will play the newly discovered songs of prairie songstress Rose Thorne. Her songs, which have been long thought destroyed in a fire in the 50s, were miraculously discovered last summer by her grandson she never knew - Kenny Wollesen. Her songs speak of love, loss, hope and longing for the prairie where she was born and raised. Born in 1896 in “South Dakota“ she was the daughter of wealthy cattle rancher Diamond Jo Thorne and painted and wrote songs her whole life until her tragic death in 1950.
KENNY WOLLESEN is an inscrutable musician full of multi-instrumental surprise. He has recorded and toured with Bill Frisell, Sexmob, Tom Waits, was a founding member of the New Klezmer Trio, and has maintained a ubiquitous presence on N.Y.C.'s downtown jazz and avant-garde scene for three decade
