VINÍCIUS GOMES is a Brazilian jazz guitarist, composer, and first-call sideman. His sound weds Brazilian classical, jazz, and American jazz traditions to the advanced chromatics of Baden Powell, Pat Metheny, and Julian Lage. His acclaimed 2017 debut Resiliência appeared on Blaxtream, with backing from a cast which included drummer Edu Ribeiro, saxophonist Rodrigo Ursaia, bassist Bruno Migotto, and pianist Gustavo Bugni. In 2020, he and saxophonist Santi De La Rubia collaborated on the album Changes; its extended lineup included drummer Jorge Rossy and bassist Doug Weiss. Gomes is known internationally as one of Brazil's finest accompanists for vocalists; he was worked extensively with Zizi Possi, Rosa Passos, and Jane Duboc as both an accompanist and music director.
VARDAN OVSEPIAN is an Armenian-born pianist/composer who is fascinated by the blend of western classical music with jazz, and has been in perpetual search for unique ways of incorporating the hybrid formation in his composing and improvising. Throughout the years Vardan has also developed a remarkable angular geometric world, connected to his background in chess, and his attraction to minimalism and modern architecture, resulting in the publication of 2 books: Mirror Exercises (2011) and Permutation Studies (2020). He has collaborated musically with artists like Mick Goodrick, Peter Erskine, Jerry Bergonzi, Tim Miller, Ben Monder, David Binney, and has released 20+ albums as a leader and co-leader.
Hailing from South Korea, SONG YI JEON is a singer and composer who deftly combines modern jazz harmony and odd time signatures with singable melodies that instantly catch the ear of the listener. Song Yi has collaborated with Guillermo Klein, Bill McHenry, Jeff Ballard, Vadim Neselovskyi, George Garzone, Tiger Okoshi, Alain Mallet, Peter Slavov, Billy Drewes, Simon Shaheen, and many more.
Originally from New Zealand, bassist MATT PENMAN is a New York City staple, maintaining an international performing, recording and teaching schedule as one of jazz music’s most in-demand musicians. In addition to his main projects, Matt performs regularly in Nils Wogram’s Root 70, and in trio with Aaron Goldberg. Other notable collaborators have included John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Wayne Shorter, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Kenny Werner, Dave Douglas, Chris Cheek, Seamus Blake, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Guillermo Klein, Rebecca Martin, Nicholas Payton, Fred Hersch and Madeleine Peyroux.
