Three distinct voices in jazz join forces for an explosive evening of musical discovery.

Ted Nash - tenor saxophone & clarinet
Steve Cardenas - guitar
Ben Allison - bass

ALLISON, CARDENAS & NASH creates intimate, spacious, and conversational music — a ‘musical trialogue,’ where group interplay fosters a sense of discovery for audience and band alike. It was formed in the model of Jimmy Giuffre’s late-fifties drums-free chamber ensembles.

The trio takes a collaborative approach to arranging, each bringing their own voice to the table. They have released four acclaimed albums — the most recent of which — explores the unique catalogue of the under-appreciated pianist-composer Herbie Nichols (1919-1963) — featuring six previously unheard compositions by the composer.

The trio has performed on stages all over the world. Recent highlights include: Providencia Jazz Festival (Santiago, Chile), Havana Jazz Festival (Cuba), Barcelona Jazz Festival (Spain), Seixal Jazz Festival (Portugal) and Angra Jazz Festival (Azores, Portugal).
