Three celebrated musicians of the NYC jazz scene unite as a trio for the first time.
Jochen Rueckert - drums
Matt Brewer - bass
Melissa Aldana - tenor saxophone
Drummer Jochen Rueckert is known for his recent work in Fred Hersch's trio, his own quartet with Mark Turner which has been touring for over a decade, the mid-2000s Kurt Rosenwinkel New Quartet, many years of the Marc Copland trio, and his electronic music programmed under the alias "Wolff Parkinson White".
For this night, he invites, in his own words: “…his former boss, tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana, who releases albums on a label called "Blue Note", along with super buff bass player Matt Brewer for an informal evening of jazz deliberations.”
Originally from Germany, New Zealand and Chile, the three naturalized American citizens expect to finish the two-set engagement without interference from ICE.
"A master musician who sees all of the angles in play and uses them to his advantage, Jochen Rueckert always delivers with best intentions and even better results" - All About Jazz
"Great album, great musicians, highest score. Full stop.” - Verhoofen's jazz
