Four of New York’s finest join forces for what promises to be a stellar evening.

Caroline Davis - saxophone
Paul Bedal - piano
Kanoa Mendenhall - bass
Jay Sawyer - drums

This ensemble will play a mixture of favorite songs by Thelonious Monk, Geri Allen, Mary Lou Williams, and Joe Henderson, as well as originals by the members of the group. 

Caroline Davis has released six albums and has won the Downbeat Critics Poll Rising Star award. She has worked with Lee Konitz, Miles Okazaki, John Zorn, Angelica Sanchez, The Femme Jam, Rajna Swaminathan, and Terry Riley. Caroline has been a resident fellow at MacDowell, The Jazz Gallery, The Rockefeller Estate, and ICE Ensemble Evolution, and a recipient of Jerome Hill, CMA, and NYFA fellowships. She is an advocate for gender equity (This Is A Movement, The New School) and justice for incarcerated people (Justice for Keith LaMar).

Paul Bedal, originally from Chicago, has released six albums under his name and has recorded and performed his music with Matt Ulery, Greg Ward, Marquis Hill, Nick Mazzarella, Charles Rumback, Katie Ernst, Zach Brock, Kenny Warren, Quin Kirchner, Jean Caze, Mike Harmon and Dion Kerr.

Kanoa Mendenhall has recorded and toured internationally with Joel Ross, María Grand, and Dayna Stephens, and has performed in groups led by Aaron Parks, Johnathan Blake, Micah Thomas, Kalia Vandever and Spellling.

Jay Sawyer has shared the stage with artists such as Freddy Cole, John McNeil, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Stefon Harris, Donny McCaslin, Benito Gonzalez and Shai Maestro. He has toured extensively in the USA and Europe, including performances at the Montreal, Detroit and Chicago Jazz Festivals.
