Pianist and composer, DABIN RYU, presents the release of Trio!, her powerful new recording. “This second album is very special to me,” says Ryu. “Compared to my first album, it showcases more of my playing side. I wanted to create a trio record that truly introduces ‘the piano player me’ to the world.” With bold interpretations of classic repertoire, Trio! pays homage to the rich legacy of the jazz piano trio while offering Ryu’s distinct, personal voice—honoring tradition without being confined by it.

Dabin Ryu first performed at Lunatico last fall with the Johnathan Blake Trio and wasted no time in making an indelible impression. She’s from Seoul, South Korea and played classical piano for 10 years before switching to jazz and contemporary styles. She has performed with Ralph Peterson, Billy Harper, Johnathan Blake, Godwin Louis, Neal Smith, Rodney Jones, and Jaleel Shaw and various solo piano concerts, group performances and big band performances. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2018. She entered the Manhattan School of Music, under a high scholarship and graduated in 2020 with a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies. She has performed at Smalls Jazz Club, Zinc Bar, Dizzy's Club, Scullers, Harlem Stage, Berklee Performance Center, Williamsburg Music Center and more.
