Joel Forrester is the composer of 1,850 tunes, the most-widely-known being the theme to NPR's "Fresh Air." He records for Donald Elman's RIDE SYMBOL label. He is co-leader of the legendary Microscopic Septet. The mid-April 2018 NEW YORKER called him "a radiant and stylistically uncategorizable pianist and composer...a present-day Fats Waller." Half his life ago, he received the support and encouragement of the Baroness Pannonica and of Thelonious Monk, who said of Forrester, "He can play." In his youth, he supplied music for the early films of Andy Warhol.
