The Hot Future Four is a four piece ensemble of legends who bring serious heat, playing a brand of Hot Jazz that looks towards the future.  The HOT future.

Steeped in the bebop tradition, Frank Perowsky came to NY when you could sit next to Bud Powell in the peanut gallery at Birdland for $1.25.  He joined up with big bands of Woody Herman, Tito Rodriguez, Chico O’farrill, Sarah Vaughan & Billy Ekstine. Later he led small groups featuring Tom Harrell, Billy Hart & Rufus Reid. He wrote charts for Buddy Rich, Liza Minelli and recently for his (soon to be released) Frank Perowsky Jazz Orchestra.

Frank met tuba sensation Bob Stewart in the late 60’s.  Bob Stewart has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Gil Evans, McCoy Tyner, Charlie Haden, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, Carla Bley, Wynton Marsalis, Jason Moran, Lester Bowie, Chaka Khan & Aretha Franklin.

Frank's son, drummer Ben Perowsky’s first exposure to Bob Stewart was in 5th grade when his dad took him over to their local junior high school stage band rehearsal to watch and listen. Bob had about fifty 13/14 year olds completely engaged and playing the $%** out of Quincy Jones’ arrangement of the theme from Sanford and Son.   A few years and many hours in the practice room later, Ben was playing in the Tri-state big band led by Justin Diciccio with concerts all summer long. A few with of these with special guest Dizzy Gillespie. There Ben was introduced to the style and grace of Dizzy's guitarist Ed Cherry.  Ed has also performed and recorded with the great Paquito D’Rivera, Henry Threadgill, John Patton, Roy Hargrove, Hamiett Bluiett, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. After high school, Ben went on to play with a wide array of artists crossing over many musical genres including James Moody, Rickie Lee Jones, John Cale, Roy Ayers, Michael Brecker, John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards, John Scofield, Belle and Sebastian, John Zorn, Uri Caine, Vernon Reid, and Rufus Wainwright.
